Cantabile depicts the sun rising over a forest.The long slow phrases describe the vastness of the bush as nature awakens. Caprice is a playful dance which describes bush creatures at play. The steady quavers of the piano left hand provide a grounding above which the oboe can weave in and out with its syncopated and intricate rhythms.
