KEVIN YOUNG
Kevin has been an educator for over 20 years. He has worked with children of all ages from
Kindergarten to HSC levels. He has a gift for
developing the talents in young people and has had high level success through many of his
students becoming professional musicians in their own right.
He graduated from the State Conservatorium of NSW (Newcastle) where
he majored in lower brass (bass trombone and tuba). Kevin
has also studied clarinet, trumpet, voice and piano.
In 1989, Kevin was appointed to Dubbo South High School in the
Western Districts of NSW where he spent many years developing an excellent music program
which included an award winning concert band and Jam Packed Big Band. Kevin also conducted many choirs and jazz vocal
ensembles.
In 2000, Kevin was the recipient of the Citizen of the
Year award for his services to music education.
This was in recognition for his outstanding contribution to music in schools and in
the community.
In 2002, Kevin and his family moved from Dubbo to Newcastle where he
now teaches at Newcastle Grammar School. He
continues to foster the talents of young people through his teaching.
He is also well known for his conducting, arranging and as a
clinician around NSW. Kevin currently conducts the Newcastle
Grammar School Senior and Middle School Wind Orchestras.
