The title, Song for Imberombera, alludes to an Aboriginal creation story recounted by Burnum Burnum in his Aboriginal Australia (Angus & Robertson, 1988, p.16), where he refers to a Dreaming legend about the arrival of the great Earth Mother, a symbol of fertility and creator of life. Among the Gagadju people of Arnhem Land, Imberombera came from across the sea arriving on the coast with her womb full of children. She travelled far and wide, forming the hills, creeks, plants and animals, leaving behind many of her spirit children.
Composed in 1997.

ta-ka-tin-go-ba-kin is presented in four percussion staves for non-pitched percussion, c.8-10 mins
Flexibility in the choice of instruments is encouraged. However, the fourth stave provides an important time-line function. Ideally, a double cowbell (gankokwe) should provide an anchor throughout epecially in the soloing sections. The "open" scoring encourages the choice of a variety of membranophones using paired sticks, stick and hand, or hands (sogo, kaganu, djembe, congas, bongos, bodhran, darabuka, gaval, bendir, changgo, davul, surdo and cuica); and idiophones such as shakers and rattles.

This is my reason for collecting, arranging, composing and sharing the compilation, 'Tuned In'. ...I am a conduit for sharing what I have heard, what has been given, including my own tunes.
