Mass in G Minor
By Tomasz Holownia
Regular price
$20.00
SSAATTBB choir, c.25'00
Inspired by the double choir masses of Martin, Rheinberger and Vaughan Williams in an endeavour to express the devotion of the mass in an involved harmonic setting, whilst attempting to make harmonic changes between keys as fluid as possible.
It can be performed with a choir of eight, if the musicians are of a high standard, but could also be very effective with a larger group.

Mass in Phrygian Mode
By Tomasz Holownia
Regular price
$20.00
SATB choir, c.25'00 - Moderate to difficult
This piece was inspired largely by older, modal settings of the mass such as those by Palestrina and Victoria. The melodic and polyphonic possibilities of four voices in the Phrygian Mode are explored with a focus on the strong dissonances of a minor second, tritone and minor ninth which are characteristic of the Phrygian mode.
If performed in a liturgical setting, the Creed can be omitted. This piece was written for a vocal quartet, but could be performed with more voices. If performed with more voices, many of the duet sections throughout could be performed by soloists.
