Fantasy Trio

It is a work in one movement. Within the movement there is a mixture of a standard sonata-allegro form and three distinct movements characterized by different tempi.
The trio is very late romantic in style with occasional glimpses of harmony which could have been used by one of the impressionist composers such as Ravel, Fauré or Debussy. Considering it is such an early work it shows wonderful maturity and great promise for the compositions which would follow.

The volume includes a CD performed by Goetz Richter (violin), Minah Choe (cello) and Jeanell Carrigan (piano). Fantasy Trio is also recorded on In Tribute (Wirr 105) available online

The suite consists of eight short movements based on a poem by Diana Weston, who wrote about a day in the life of a flying doctor working at the Flying Doctor Service in Broken Hill, outback New South Wales. The centrepiece is the calming 'Wings from the Sky', a musical reflection of the welcome sight of the Flying Doctor plane when it appears out of the vast sky, its crew arriving to administer comfort and life-saving help. Composed 2013.

Cello and piano, c.10'00. Advanced to professional gradeThe Gardens of Stone National Park is in the Blue Mountains World Heritage area (NSW). This toccata-like piece is written in recognition of the threat to this pristine environment by the encroachment of coal mining enterprises on its borders, gradually degrading the rock formations.
Originally composed for piano and didjeridu this version for piano and cello was created in 2021. Other versions of the piece include bass clarinet, and string orchestra. An arrangement for full symphony orchestra has been made by Dr. Steven Stanke for performance by Symphony Central Coast (NSW) in 2022.
