The Baroque Bear is a character from the Grunewald forest in Berlin of the early 1700s. On his morning walk, he encounters an exotic Middle Eastern princess who has time-travelled all the way down from the twenty first century to the early 1700s.
He is gruffly captivated by her initial assertions, her smoothly undulating movements, her gestures, her regal bearing. The two strains of music merge, the Middle Eastern and the Baroque, and the original differing strains suddenly become somewhat indistinguishable from each other.

The Baroque Bear is a character from the Grunewald forest in Berlin of the early 1700s. He time travels to be a guest at a twenty first century Arabian wedding party.
The Classical guitar, representative of the Baroque Bear, reflects on his musings and gradual acceptance of the florid Arabian traditions, similar and yet dissimilar to his own musical and Bärenfamilie traditions.
At the onset he is confused by the rich and diverse Arabian music and culture, the dance rhythms, the wild abandon and the prevailing joie de vivre that seems a little removed from his own culture and music. But he quickly strikes a rapport with the beautiful bride and the groom, plodding on and cheerfully asserting his own ornamentation of decorative flourishes, trills and little arpeggiated riffs, to match the exotic dance melodies and rhythms of the lovely couple.

BirdTalk was written for the players to enjoy. The composer has no idea what the title
means. For him it was suggestive of a playful dialogue between the two marimbas and the pre-recorded sounds. The sounds are chirpy and chattering rather than obviously birdlike. The performers may interpret and play with the title as they please.

A lively young nineteen year-old waitress on a cruise ship loads an excessive number of glasses on her tray and tries hard to hold the tray in a steady position while the boat rocks and rolls gently. She moves rhythmically to the music in the cocktail bar, dressed in a short red dress, fancy high heeled boots and a scarlet cap.
A select few young men are trying out dance moves and the young waitress becomes distracted. She yearns to join this high-energy group in their fun. But this is her first job, so she decides, rather ruefully, not to join in the fun and risk getting fired.

The constrictions on a teenage girl’s romantic sensibilities make her somewhat frazzled and irritable during the Covid-19 lockdown - but then she decides to deal with the deprivation with wisdom and prudence, striving to be sensible under the imposed circumstances. She raids her family library and does what is practical and somewhat functional, in choosing to settle down to Jane Austen’s famous book “Sense and Sensibility”.
The quirky and nonchalant music - fragmented melodies logically bound together but seemingly somewhat in limbo, captures her mood and pleases her sensibilities.
