Violin, cello, oboe, piano or harpsichord and flexible string ensemble.
The play on words in the title of this piece has the piece beginning with a homage to J. S. Bach, clearly derived from his C minor Prelude BWV 847. From there, the music drifts inexorably into something much more free and increasingly ecstatic, as though, through intoxication with music, the players have entered a time warp to the modern day. As the ecstasy subsides, we are back in Bach's time, but the lure of modern music cannot be resisted, and we find ourselves in a second round of ecstasy.
