Flying in Paradise - Treble Clef

By Houston Dunleavy

Regular price $61.00 Sale

4 Euphoniums and 2 Tubas, c.8'00

The music manipulates the opening rhythmic material and displaces it using techniques similar to Steve Reich's phasing.  However, the composer makes much of the sudden juxtapositions between phased and unison sections rather than composing transitional material. Full set of parts also included in bass clef.
Composed 2011

On To the Field

By Andrew Batterham

Regular price $128.00 Sale

Wind band and pipe organ c.13'00.

On to the field, our doom is sealed,
    To conquer or be slaves;
The sun shall see our country free.
    Or set upon our graves!

These words were attributed to Timothy Hayes, a participant in the Eureka Stockade uprising in 1854. He was chairman of the Ballarat Reform League, helping to convene the Monster Meetings on Bakery Hill that took place around a large flag pole that would soon fly the Southern Cross.

Three Famous Chinese Poems

By Thomas McConochie

Regular price $41.00 Sale

Arranged for Brass Ensemble, c.9'00, grade 6 and above

These three poems are among the most famous in Chinese literature and come from the golden age of Chinese poetry, the Tang Dyansty (608-907 CE). Each poem was composed by one of three contemporary poets who knew one another personally, namely, Meng Haoran (孟浩然) (689/691-740 CE), Li Bai (李白), (701-762 CE) and Wang Wei (王維) (699-759 CE).
The poems use wistful imagery to arouse bitter-sweet feelings. Morning in Springtime evokes images of beauty in springtime such as dawn, chirping birds, but also countless beautiful flowers being blown down in a storm. Quiet Night Thoughts draws on imagery of the moon, associated with longing, to create a sense of sadness among the serenity of a quiet night. What I Most Pine For relates
wishing one’s friend well, even though he (or she) may sadly be far away.
