Brendan Collins

Brendan Collins is the Composer-in-residence at Barker College, Sydney and Chief Brass Examiner of the Australian Music Examinations Board, NSW. His compositions are frequently performed and recorded throughout the world by many leading international artists and his music is broadcast regularly on ABC ClassicFM.

In 2018 Phillip Chase Hawkins recorded Collins’ complete works for trumpet on the CD ‘Great Southern Land’ as part of his doctoral program.  The CD was recorded in the USA and is available on the Navona Label.  Collins’ music also appears on the CD recordings of Alex Wilson (USA), Richard Stoelzel (Canada/ Poland), Jeanell Carrigan (Australia), Garrett Klein (USA), Jose Chafer (Spain) and Matthew Van Emmerik (Australia). 

Manu Mellaerts (Spain) and Slawomir Cichor (Poland) premiered Collins' ‘Concerto for Two Trumpets’ with the Arthur Rubenstein Philharmonic Orchestra in Lodz, Poland, 2019. 

George Curran, Bass Trombonist of the New York Philharmonic premiered Collins' 'Jose Suite' for bass trombone and piano at the International Trombone Festival July 2019.

Brendan has composed many solo and educational works for the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) and has worked as a major consultant on many of the recent AMEB brass syllabuses and publications.

He has served as the composer-in-residence with the Sydney Youth Orchestra and in 2010 his composition for concert band, ‘William of Orange March’ won first prize in the NSW School Band Festival composition competition.
