Rod Lander
Rod Lander trained as a pianist A.M.E.B. Grade 8) but during university studies and subsequently, his musical experience has been as a soloist singer in Music Hall, opera, light opera and as choral singer with Sydney Philharmonia Motet, Hong Kong Chamber Choir, Coro Austral, Con Voci, The London Bach Society and Bel A Cappella. Although experienced in singing everything from medieval to modern, his first love is Bach and there may be some influence from Bach detected in his pieces.
He directs a small singing group (four-part choir) and another chamber choir. Rod has directed many musicals (various high schools and in his community) including arranging orchestral parts to suit amateur musicians and has also prepared and conducted concerts involving professional musicians.
Rod’s involvement in small choirs as a singer (bass and tenor) has given him a good understanding of the possibilities and limitations of choral groups.
