Jazmine Morris
Jazmine was born in 1994 and grew up in Harcourt North, in central Victoria. She began flute lessons at the age of 7 and her love for music grew throughout the years that followed. Jazmine discovered her love for composition in her high school years, where she played piano for the school jazz band and was encouraged to improvise and create arrangements for the ensemble.
In 2013, Jazmine’s work ‘Untitled in C minor’ reached the finals of the Australian Flute Festival and was performed at Australian National University in Canberra.
Jazmine is currently in her final year of Bachelor of Music at Monash University, where she has majored in flute performance, studying under Sylvie Leprohon and playing in the Monash Flute Ensemble under the baton of Peter Sheridan. Jazmine currently teaches several enthusiastic piano players at a primary school and enjoys returning to her hometown where she tutors high school flute students at their annual music week.
Jazmine is passionate about creating new works for the flute, particularly ensemble and chamber work that can be approached from varying ages and ability levels. These works are inspired by her surrounding environment and fellow musicians.
