Yvonne Anthony
Yvonne Anthony, A.Mus.A, A.Dip.A, Classical and Modern Piano.
Yvonne is a professional musician, composer and teacher (piano, organ and keyboard) and former examiner for the Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts Board (A.N.Z.C.A.) specialising in Modern Music, Composition, and Theory.
Formally educated in Scotland, Yvonne began playing professionally while still at high school. On graduating, she played piano and vibes with a variety of bands for over two years, before moving to London to work in the central West End, adding organ music to her repertoire.
Six years later she emigrated to Australia and formed her own five-piece group which played venues in and around Melbourne, performing some of her original compositions.
Her Australian musical career has also included recordings, jingles, TV, performing at music festivals, with big bands and small groups, most recently at the Brisbane Jazz Club with the Brisbane Big Band and the Swing Chronicles. For the last 35 years Yvonne has run successful teaching studios in Queensland.
Her compositions have been used by Charley Brighton of the B.B.C. Winds Ensemble (London) and her works for Euphonium and Piano are listed in the Euphonium Source Book recently published in the U.S.A.
