Ayşe Göknur Shanal
Turkish-Australian soprano Ayşe Göknur Shanal is one of our most versatile classical singers, having displayed outstanding artistry in opera, recital, oratorio as well as concert repertoire. She is also a tireless advocate for Australian composition. She has been a Dame Joan Sutherland Scholar at the Royal College of Music and an adjunct member of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, not to mention other awards and scholarships in vocal studies nationally and internationally, including the Australian Singing Competition, McDonalds’ Operatic Aria, Queen’s Trust for Young Australians, Symphony Australia’s Young Performers’ Award (Vocal Category), Countess of Munster scholarship (London) and others. In 2014 she was named winner of the National Liederfest Competition and was recipient of the Australian Opera Awards Committee Scholarship for the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School.
