Australian Choral Anthology Volume 1 - SATB

A ‘call for scores’ requested that the word content must be of ‘distinctly Australian flavour’. More than 40 works were submitted, obviously more than one volume! Hence, three volumes have emerged with one each for SATB choirs (mostly with piano accompaniment); a SA choir; and choir with instruments other than piano (with separate instrument parts). As a result, their words have captured our Australian fabric; gum trees, many types of birds - kookaburras, magpies, currawong, even the Noisy Miner, and more - brumbies, bushfires, climate, seasons, and of course, arrangements of traditional folk songs.
Overall, we have tried to make this project as accessible as possible to ensure that this Australian music is heard and appreciated by many and enjoyed by the singers.
Multiple choir copies of any of the works can be purchased individually under license at very reasonable rates. Please contact keats@wirripang.com.au

For flute quartet - flute, alto flute, bass flute and contrabass flute, c.6'30This work is intended to be performed in those concerts or broadcasts that may transpire before two National days of importance, namely ANZAC Day and Armistice Day, also known as Remembrance Day.
The work portrays the innocence the young men and women took with them to war and which was truly bloodied and destroyed by the process of conflict. The centrepiece of the composition is the sounding of the Last Post by the bass flute with echoes by the flute and alto flute both underpinned by ominous beats from the contra bass flute. Composed 2015.

The Brolga for dancing and the bell bird for a distinctive sound. . Add to this the drone of a didgeridoo with the performers trying to out vie each other as the night wears on.
