Jane Parkin
Jane Parkin [soprano] Sydney born Jane Parkin completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Music/Acting) at the Wollongong University before graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2000 with a Diploma of Opera. In 2010 she joined the Opera Australia Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist program. Recent performances for Opera Australia include Frasquita in Carmen, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, the Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto, Mrs Segstrom in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Lucy and Nurse 2 in the world premiere of Brett Dean’s Bliss and Cio-Cio San (OzOpera) in Madama Butterfly. Jane also performed as soloist in the world premiere of Robert J. Bradshaw’s chamber opera Gabriel for the International Trumpet Guild conference in 2009. Jane’s performance experience encompasses opera, recitals, oratorio and musical theatre. 2007. Jane has been a finalist in the McDonalds Operatic Aria Award, Opera Foundation Australia’s New York Study Award, Covent Garden Opera Study Scholarship and Metropolitan Opera Award.
