Brendon Wade

Brendon is a pianist, piano teacher, and composer from Perth, Western Australia. He started learning the organ as a child, and at the same time, his mother (who is a piano teacher) began lessons. His father also played the organ. After a short time, Brendon switched to the piano and continued learning throughout childhood, participating in formal performance and theory grade exams as well as local eisteddfods. He also gained experience playing in concerts as well as learning piano duets and trios thanks to his teachers (Lynette Ryan and later Josephine Symons) and supportive parents. Brendon also studied music at secondary school with teacher Bruce Culver, who influenced his love of performing in stage productions that led to subsequent professional engagements as a musician. All of this combined well to set Brendon up well for his progression to studying at, and later graduating from, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAPPA) with a qualification in Jazz and Contemporary Music.

This in turn, facilitated Brendon’s musical career, performing in various musical combinations and bands as well as accompanying choirs. The styles he has performed in have provided Brendon with diversity and have included classical, jazz, pop, and rock music.

Brendon has postgraduate qualifications in education, including a Masters Degree. He has held a variety of positions in schools and currently enjoys his role as a classroom teacher. This has provided him with a broad range of experiences that complement his musical career.

Brendon has been a prolific composer, having written music for piano, electric keyboard, and many other instrumental combinations. He has a particular interest in digital and midi recording, having used Cubase software for about 30 years. A lot of his music has been inspired by and written for his students. His unique style blends a range of musical genres and includes fun titles such as The Boogie Woogie Doggie’s Friend, The Tasselled Wobbegong, Oboe in the Ocean, and Pixellated Pig.
