Tom Campbell

Tom Campbell studied at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, Germany, has held positions in orchestras in Germany and Australia and has been a member of several professional wind quintets and chamber orchestras over the years.  He now lives in Melbourne with his wife, oboist Anne Gilby, and their two cats.  Tom is currently a freelance horn player, teacher and composer, a brass and woodwind repairer at Campbell Brasswind Service, the Australian and New Zealand agent for Alexander horns at Alexander Australia and sound recordist and sound designer at Studio 22 Productions.  Tom has composed extensively for solo instruments, large and small chamber groups and full orchestra.  These pieces have usually been commissioned for  performances in and around Melbourne but have also occasionally been performed in the U.S.A. and Germany.  His music has been described as cinematic and is almost always in some way programmatic, describing pictures, scenes or emotions.
