The shapes of the melodic lines and the textures recall the music of the French master, Debussy. Yet this is only the launch of the piece. As it progresses, the piece changes in ways much like the ocean by turns rough and smooth, loud and soft. There are only seven chords in the works, and a series of short melodic lines, one for each chord, or collection of pitched if you like.
The piece cycles through these chords at various rates and the themes are combined to produce different textures that are used to give form to the work based on the varying density of the textures, rather than thematic development or a harmonic plan. It is meant for very good amateur, student or professional players.
