Orchestral with optional SATB, c.6'40
Words by James Lister Cutherbertson. The poem uses strong imagery to evoke the mystery and emerging grandeur of a sunrise, particularly on the East Coast of Australia, where the sun rises above the Pacific
Ocean - “shadowy reaches,” “lustrous purple blackness”, “grey awakening”, and “dying darkness” and "burnt with cloudy crimson at the dawning of the day.
Versions also available with optional SSA and TTB; and for these choir arrangements with only piano accompaniment.
