I Sense the Waves in the Universe

This is the second song in a cycle of eight songs. Libretto is by the composer.

The Bionic Girl, Neo-Tatiana, a creation of the year 2099, is not just a very advanced  technological celebrity vested with extraordinarily intellectual conditioned reflexes and automatic responses. She possesses the human capacity to experience deeply moving emotions, perceptions, as well the ability to feel something physically, especially by touching. She is graced with a heightened awareness of the human psyche, and responds strongly to heat, pain and a range of senses. Together with the inbuilt resilience of her robotic half, she feels a deep sense of obligation and responsibility for her unique heritage - a merger of machine parts with humanly derived DNA and human brain cells, which are the substratum of her AI framework.
The accompaniment contains broken chords and arpeggiated sequences that evoke the headlong “rush “of emotion associated with the sensations Neo - Tatiana experiences. For all its joy and vigour, there is an underlying feeling of pathos in the interlaced harmonies in this song which correlate to the drops in her voice as she speaks in hushed monotones: “I rise, I fall, I sink.” The accompaniment takes on the weight of this responsibility, buckling down from the previous euphoria.
