Mary Magdalene

For SSA choir and oboe, c.4'30.
A setting of a poem by Rosemary Blake.

Rosemary's poem refers to a biblical episode when, after Jesus's death, Mary Magdalene feels his mysterious presence in the garden near his now-empty tomb. In my setting, I am reflecting upon Mary's fluctuating sensations and emotions as depicted so magically in the poem.

The oboe part, is not an accompanying line for the vocal
textures, but rather to provide a short prelude and postlude as well as interludes to reflect the poem's verse structure
