For solo piano, c.2'45.  Early Grade 3

This minimalist-inspired piano piece, is based on the Lutheran hymn tune Jesu, Jesu, du mein Hirt by the German composer Paul Heinlein (1590-1646). The tune’s melancholic shape is retained but a different harmonic treatment, a more contemporary approach, is used for this arrangement. Although the piece is not technically demanding, it requires careful attention to balance and texture.
