Soprano and piano, c.3'35

Words taken from a letter 'home' written in 1941 by the composer's older brother, Russell Keats, while serving in HMAS Canberra during WW II.  The heavy cruiser was on escort duties in the Indian Ocean with relentless temperatures of 38C but despite this he wrote graphically of the natural beauty and wonders surrounding him, words, which in themselves lent to this song. Composed  2017
