Tango for two harpsichords, c.7'15

Night Music isn’t programmatic but there are touches of night bird calls and those rustling sounds animals make at night, especially in the buff stop figures and trills. And, of course, there are those other famous night pieces by Mozart, Sondheim and others, whose memory lingers. Even the harpsichord’s association with the Addams family is a distant spectre. The middle section is a minimalist tango waltz designed to levitate the piece before returning to earth.
