Ordinary Mass in English
By Kathleen Mcguire
Regular price
$6.00
Sale
SATB (with piano/organ optional). c.4'15
This short mass setting is designed for choir use in a regular communion service (Eucharist). It is particularly suitable for Lent because it contains no Gloria. The four movements - Kyrie Eleison; Sanctus; Benedictus and Agnus Dei are most often sung nowadays, omitted is the traditional Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. Each movement is deliberately short in order to enhance the flow of worship in today’s modern world, while keeping with the tradition of choral responses. It is most likely unsuitable for congregational singing, due to the complexity of the vocal lines.
The four-movement setting is also suitable as a stand-alone concert piece.
