Pandiatonic Explorations

Nicolas Slonimsky (1894-1995) coined the term “pandiatonic” to cover musical textures that are restricted to the diatonic scale but are not tied to the triadic harmonic procedures upon which Western music is traditionally based.  Rather pandiatonic music uses a more extensive range of harmonic ideas based on clusters, and other non-triadic harmonic constructions.   This three movement work is based on Slonimsky's idea.   Composed 2011
