“Please, Please Rain!” is the daily plea of rural West Australians experiencing ever longer, hotter drier summers. The piece depicts a myriad of tones and textures depicting the sounds of nature, the intensity of the elements, a panoply of emotions felt. Opening bird calls initiate a frustratingly long day filled with a chaotic mixture of sudden emotional changes ranging from fury to despair, resignation and tears as yet another day of relentless sun and rising temperatures is experienced.
