The music is relaxed and in keeping with the feeling of being far away from the hustle of cities. There is also a sense of marching to the tune of long distances and far away horizons, with these two ideas echoed in the music.
The work has two very different sections: a slow, pensive waltz in 3/4 and a cowboy swagger in 4/4, resulting in the overall ternary form.
