River Returning, The (oboe/string orch)

For oboe and string orchestra, c.11'30

“No river can return to its source, but all rivers must have a beginning.”
This Shoshone phrase uses the story of the great river to remind us that even the mighty river cannot return to the mouth of its origin. It cannot return from the place that it started its journey and begin the process again. Every point along its journey to the great ocean must be experienced in the moment and then left behind forever.
