The name, Rondo Remi, is wordplay around the form of the work and the first three notes of the scale, which appear in sequence as the first three notes of the first melody. The work is more romantic than classical in nature, even though conceived along the lines of a classical string quartet. The contrasting sections keep the listener's interest even though the melodies return repeatedly.
