Silken Ties

Three pieces for toy piano c.5'50

The three short pieces which make up Silken Ties all connect to aspects of silk. ‘Ribbons’ relates to Museo di Villa Bernasconi, in Cernobbio, Italy, originally the home of textile manufacturer Davide Bernasconi. ‘City of Silk’ pays tribute to Como, known as the Italian city of silk. ‘Distant Gamelans’ draws on the shape of a Thai gamelan melody, Thailand being strongly associated with silk manufacture.
