Smooth Jivin' Man in a Hat, The

The music is primarily jazz-based, and the low undulating theme in the bass is suggestive of the sound of a tenor saxophone. The deeper sound contributes to the creation of a mysteriously intriguing harmonic foundation and texture. Often it uses contrasting sections, shorter riffs set against and alongside a swing rhythm. These shorter riffs create dynamic shifts that emphasize the Man in a Hat’s somewhat cheerful, whimsical, comedic and unpredictable nature. The music utilizes a syncopated rhythm, and as it progresses, it simultaneously creates a slightly off-kilter feel and a playful bounciness.
