Stalactite

Like icicles hanging from the roof of an underground cave, stalactites grow over many centuries with the slow seepage of water through the earth above. The water leaves tiny traces of minerals which solidify as the water drips and evaporates. The music with its gentle repeated note motif, draws on the imagery of this process and of the stalactites found at Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Composed 2011
