Trio Lamorna (1933)

Trio in three movements for violin, cello and piano
- Allegro Moderato – Andante
- Adagio – Piu Mosso
- Poco Andante - Allegro
The name “Lamorna” comes perhaps from the Cornish word meaning a traditional folk song/ ballad associated with Cornwall and dealing with the courtship of a man and a woman. Although the premiere performance was given in November 1933, the only existing manuscript was in a lamentable and unfinished state. There were so few piano trios written before 1935 by any Australian composer and it is hoped that the reconstruction of this lovely work will be a welcome addition to the repertoire.
